Congratulations to Chuck D, Flavor Flav and the group Public Enemy. Today, they were announced along with disco legend Donna Summers, the group Rush, Hart and Quincy Jones among others as the newest members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Founded in Long Island New York during the late 80’s, P.E. created politically charged anthems that set the tone for a new wave of emcees. With topics that ranged from Black on Black crime and dirty politics to voter rights, Chuck D paired with the comical Flavor Flav to serve as a news outlet for the hood.
Among the hip-hop acts who missed the cut this year was the ground-breaking crew, N.W.A. I’m sure they’ll find their spot in the Hall sooner than later. Congratulations again to Public Enemy. A nation of millions still can’t hold you back!
