Utah Jazz v Los Angeles Lakers

NBA League officials have approved teams selling on-court advertising for the high-profile space in front of team benches as well as the camera-visible areas on top of the backboards.

A league source said no specific valuation has been assigned to the new sales areas, but multiyear, multimillion-dollar deals are expected, with teams signing package deals that would provide an advertiser with visibility in both places. One team executive said the deals could range anywhere from mid-six figures to around $2 million annually, acknowledging that the value of the signage will vary widely by market.

Until now, the league had mandated that these areas be limited to team branding. The deals would be sold locally, but any corporate branding of the areas would be removed during national TV broadcasts

With the NBA Play-offs in full effect, it’s not shock that some teams are going overboard to get focused. One team that has been extra focused in the Miami Heat . Heading into the play-offs, they are the best bet for taking home the championship this year. That hasn’t stopped the team from taking some time to goof around some in practice. Recently, Lebron James, ray Allen and point guard Mario Chalmers got into a shooting contest during practice that the King won. The loosers got the chance to do 20 push-ups. Check out Allen and Chalmers struggle through it right here.

This isn’t the first time the guard has had a run in with the law when it comes to guns. He was suspended along with former teammate Gilbert Arenas in 2010 for having a gun in the Washington Wizards’ locker room.

Crittenton was selected 19th overall by the Lakers in 2007 and played for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Wizards. He was most recently with the Dakota Wizards of the D-League.

– — – It looks like Dwight Howard might get his wish after all. The trade that would send the All-Star Center from Orlando to Brooklyn where he would pair up with Deron Williams and Joe Johnson seemed to be dead after Cleveland pulled out of the deal at the last minute. Tonight though, it seems like the deal might be back on, just with new teams. This round the Lakers, Rockets and Magic are all trying to deal players and contracts around with Andrew Bynum going from the Magic and Howard goes to the Lakers. Houston is still in play as well. Listen to Marc Stein discuss the complex trade possibilities on ESPN.
