Singer/songwriter The-Dream has been appointed executive VP of A&R at Def Jam. The announcement was made yesterday (October 8th), and The-Dream “will have a comprehensive, broad reaching A&R portfolio.” The hit maker will work closely with Universal Republic/Island Def Jam Motown chairman/CEO Barry Weiss and several other high-ranking music executives, such as Karen Kwak, head of A&R at Island Def Jam Music Group; Joie Manda, president of Def Jam Recordings; And Steve Bartels, president/COO of Island Def Jam Music Group.
