Last week it was reported that Google slashed the cumulative views count on Youtube channels belonging to Universal Music Group, Sony/BMG and RCA records by more than 2 billion views as part of a drastic cleanup that was aimed at shutting down black hat view count-building techniques employed by a community of rogue view count manipulators on the video-sharing site.
Universals channel took the biggest hit. According to figures compiled by Youtube statistics analyst SocialBlade, the record companys Youtube channel lost more than 1 billion views from it’s early tallk of 7 billion views. Sony/BMG suffered the 2nd biggest loss, loosing more that 850 million views in one day, bringing down their total to 2.3 million. In addition, each lables Youtube acrchives have been altered to reflect their real view totals now as well.
